POWERSAVE: Compact and autonomous protection for your power distribution system

POWERSAVE is a compact and powerful IED (Intelligent Electronic Device) that provides a full range of protection, control and measurement functions for public power supply and industrial power distribution. With integrated power management, POWERSAVE warrants autonomous operation by combining CT power supply and capacitor energy blocks to allow trip; tripping of the circuit breaker directly from the protection unit without relying on a UPS. This makes POWERSAVE particularly reliable as blackout protection, independent of external supplies.

In addition to the 12 multicoloured, freely configurable LEDs, the device has two mechanical flag indicators (INIT and TRIP) that display the system status even in the event of failure of the auxiliary power supply.

POWERSAVE is available in two device versions:

  • RN: Overcurrent and motor protection with bay control
  • RF: Outgoing circuit protection with ground fault detection and bay control, the world's only directed, CT powered (dual powered) protection unit with distance protection in this version.

  • Size: 19"/2 3 U for surface-mounted and mounting (RN1 surface-mounted replacement) or rack installation (RN1 surface-mounted replacement)
  • Current transformer inputs: 4 inputs for 1/5 A current transformers
  • Analog inputs: 3 inputs for conventional or resistive voltage transformers (sensor inputs)
  • Binary inputs: 4 or 8 binary inputs
  • Binary outputs: 4 or 8 binary outputs
  • Auxiliary power supply: Selectable 22-28 V DC or 50-275 V AC / 44-250 V DC
    with optional bridging time
  • Display: Energy-saving high-resolution monochrome graphic display
  • Keys: Key for local/remote switching
  • LEDs: 12 three-color LEDs for a clear status display
  • Flag indicators: Two mechanical position indicators (flag indicators) for displaying the system status
